Chanel’s India-Inspired Metiers d’Art Show

Chanel’s Metiers d’Art show saw the Grand Palais in Paris transformed into an Indian-themed dinner party on Tuesday.  Guests sat at banquet tables, which doubled as a runway, complete with chandeliers, opulent candlesticks - and a feast fit for a Maharaja.  The Metiers d’Art show was launched in 2003 as homage to the label’s workshop.

Lagerfeld went full force for the over-the-top bejeweling and embellishment of the Maharajas. The color palette was rather sedate considering the point of reference, but he managed to include a few shots of bright pink and periwinkle against all the white, cream, gold, navy and burgundy.   The most successful and interesting looks were those were the “Indian” styling was hinted at but presented in a fresh way.
